Coach Lovie Smith confirmed Monday that Nick Roach will be the Bears' starting strong-side linebacker this season.He'll also be the backup middle linebacker, moving there if Brian Urlacher goes down. "He can do an awful lot for us," said Smith of Roach. "We’re pumped up that he decided to come back." It doesn't sound like Pisa Tinoisamoa will return.

Roach went undrafted in 2007 and was signed by the Chicago Bears after being cut from the Chargers. That season, he played in only 3 games, starting none. In 2008 he saw increased playing time, starting nine games and tallying 28 solo tackles in addition to nine assists. 2009 saw Roach make his biggest impact yet on defense, starting 15 games for the Bears. He had 54 solo tackles, 28 assists, two sacks and three fumble recoveries.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing this great article! That is very interesting Smile I love reading and I am always searching for informative information like this.It's like the full dress rehearsal going into the year. You're going to play the majority of the game, be in all the regular season situations ( two minute drill, coming out of the halftime, etc.) so it's the closest to regular season during the preseason. While some teams have had to learn alot in a short time this year (due to the lockout) because our coaching staff was consistent and most of our players on defense have been around here, it's more like coming off a short week during the season. We haven't had to learn anything crazy and we are confident in each other, we know each other and know where we will be on any given play. My goal is to get that mental focus point before the game, get the body right and warmed up correctly. Anything you would do before a season opener is what I hope to do before this third preseason game.
