As the Falcons have struggled to find complementary receivers and as Tony Gonzalez begins to wane, White has had to play closer to the line of scrimmage than he used to. He has seen his yards per catch drop precipitously in each of the past two seasons, even as his overall usage has skyrocketed.

White has not been an ordinary receiver, though, and those who give out the award needn't look further than Atlanta's Week 4 game against San Francisco, when he stripped the ball from 49ers defensive back Nate Clements after an interception, leading to the game-winning field goal.
