The athletic program for the flagship school of the State of Florida higher education system, the Florida Gators are one of the most successful programs in the country in both athletic success and financial stability.

Though offensive coordinator Charlie Weis has infused the Gators with an entirely new playbook, one carryover from the previous regime are some Wildcat formations featuring a trio of the team’s running backs – redshirt senior Chris Rainey, senior Jeff Demps and sophomore Trey Burton – taking direct snaps from the center and either reading rushing lanes or (rarely) throwing the ball.

All week I have been saying “dont get your hopes up”, the “Gators are probably two touchdown favorites in reality”, etc, etc. But today isnt the time for reason. Today is the time for victory. Sit back, turn on ESPNU, try to ignore the fact that you have to listen to Mark Schlereth and cross your fingers for a victory. Now is the time we say we are going to win and we celebrate after it is over (by listening to WHAS 840 AM for the postgame call-in show for instance). The time is now to shock the world….go get em Cats!

The Gators seemed to find some things on the drive. Most of the plays were with jack-of-all-trades Trey Burton at quarterback, running the cut-read option for good yards. And, on two third-and-9s, Brisket threw passes to convert the first down, including one pass to Burton.
